SLIDE 1 — Cover
Headline: Your cloud bill isn’t too high. You just don’t own it yet.
Sub-line: The difference between “reduce the bill” and “own the bill” — and why it matters more than any cost-cutting initiative.
SLIDE 2
Label: THE REAL PROBLEM
Headline: Nobody owns the cloud bill.
Body: Most cloud cost initiatives follow the same pattern: bill spikes, someone investigates, spend drops, then creeps back up. The cycle repeats because reducing spend isn’t the same as owning it.
SLIDE 3
Label: WHAT OWNERSHIP LOOKS LIKE
Headline: “We spend $47k/month on EC2 because…”
Body: Not at the account level — at the resource level. You should be able to finish that sentence for every significant line item. If you can’t, you don’t own it yet.
SLIDE 4
Label: THE CULTURAL SHIFT
Headline: Cloud costs aren’t a finance problem. They’re an engineering problem.
Body: Every architectural decision has a cost implication: the database engine, the caching strategy, whether you paginate or return all records. Engineers who can’t see their costs can’t optimise for them.
SLIDE 5
Label: THE VENDOR RELATIONSHIP
Headline: SLA credits: the most ignored money in cloud.
Body: Every major provider guarantees uptime. When they miss it, they owe you a credit — but the filing process is designed to require effort. A company that never files SLA claims either has perfect cloud reliability (unlikely) or hasn’t built the process.
SLIDE 6
Label: THE GOAL
Headline: The metric isn’t the bill. It’s value per dollar.
Body: Sometimes owning your costs means spending more — on a commitment that reduces unit costs, or a new region for latency. Sometimes it means spending less. The goal is maximising value, not minimising the number.
SLIDE 7 — CTA
Headline: Want the full story?
Body: This is the FinOps mindset shift we built Fintropy around — from reactive cost-cutting to genuine ownership across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
